On October 23, the Moscow duo Organ Orchestra will sit down at the harpsichords to perform Bach’s concertos in a rare program not easily available to the audience, mostly for technical reasons, as you rarely get two harpsichords on one ground. The program will also include several original pieces by Stoganov and Lebedev.
Over the five years of their performances together, the duo has developed a diverse and unique repertoire. Fyodor Stroganov composes pieces for piano ensembles; Ivan Lebedev creates four-hand organ transcriptions. The musicians perform at different venues ranging from a cathedral with acoustic organ to clubs and museums. They have performed not only Baroque pieces, but also piano music of later periods, spanning from the Viennese classics to Astor Piazzolla.
Fyodor Stroganov became popular as an organ and harpsichord player and composer. He is a tutor of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, winner of the First International Oleg Yanchenko Organ Competition, and diploma holder of the Second International Mikael Tariverdiev Organ Competition (“for artistic excellence and maintaining the traditions of organ performances”). He has participated in numerous festivals of old and contemporary music in Russia and abroad and has been actively involved both with ensembles and in solo programs.
In the last years, he has become popular as a children’s music composer who creates brilliant music for tales, he is also a recognized master of instrumental miniature. Compositions by Fyodor Stroganov are frequently performed by the Barocco, Klassika and Astor-club ensembles. He has featured in many recordings of old and contemporary as a soloist and basso continuo.
Ivan Lebedev is a pianist, organist, harpsichordist, baroque improviser and artistic director of the Sankt-Joseph-Kapelle and Klassika ensembles. He has performed with the Pavel Slobodkin Orchestra and Blogovest choir in several projects, including the Easter Oratorio, the St. Matthew Passion, and Magnificat by J.S. Bach, Gloria by A. Vivaldi and many others. He is the author of several cycles of performances, particularly “Organ-Orchestra”, “Classical music nights”, “Russian Mansion Music”, etc., and has worked together with the Moscow Philharmonic on the creation of children’s musical programs. He is also a producer, art director and arranger in many projects of old, classical and ethnic music.
