Moscow-based progressive composers Fyodor Amirov and Alexei Chichilin will be once again performing at the Vadim Sidur Museum. Last time, they performed as a duo, however, on January 30, 2016, they will be joined by Anton Ponomaryov (alto saxophone) and Yuri Posypanov (drums, percussion). Regardless of the change, the principle is always the same, that of the creation of musical material immediately on stage as it is performed.
About the duet:
Fyodor Amirov works with different styles of music, from classical piano to free improvisation to rock concerts and multimedia performances. He follows his own path as an artist and thinker, and his repertoire comprises many pieces by composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Alexei Chichilin combines the classical guitar style with radical avant-garde and free improvisation. A winner of international competitions in the classical guitar, he has worked with many participants of the Moscow avant-garde scene. The majority of non-academic projects he features in center on free spontaneous performance bringing together the guitar classics experience and extreme methods of sound production with elements of contemporary academic classics and new jazz.
The musicians themselves call their performances a Research Laboratory of Improvisational Music.
