“Up Above Moscow” is a cycle of open-air music nights up on a rooftop offering unique views of Moscow. In warm seasons, the performances are staged on the rooftop of the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman pavilion, at the footing of the iconic 24-meter sculpture, a world-renowned symbol of the Soviet Union. At all other times and depending on the weather conditions, the concerts are held on the fourth floor with admission to the rooftop during the break.
A rooftop time at the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman is not only a great outdoor choice but also a chance to expand your music tastes, to add a new angle to your collection of the city’s best sights, and an opportunity to visit all exhibitions currently run by the Exhibition Center.
Music nights at the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman are conducted in two formats, with ‘Rooftop Jazz’ performances on Wednesdays and ‘Electronic Thursdays’ given to electronic musicians and sound designers. The organizer of the project is the Manege Association.

Electronic Thursday: WoodJu & El Ched
On October 1, the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman Center will be celebrating the International Music Day with a performance of electronic music.
WoodJu is a Moscow-based musician and producer composing and performing IDM, glitch hop, chillout, abstract hip hop and grime. A member of the Mad-Hop-Records Abstrasension Records Label, he also curates the 22LR project. He would not go for a single style, focusing rather on the atmosphere and feeling of his music. He says, “My music inspires peacefulness and melancholy as its two main aspects, and it is up to the listener which side he would take”. WoodJu’s compositions are inspired by his passion for the history of African tribes, book noir and speculative fiction, his escapes from the hustle and bustle of city life, his personal experiences and unending experiments. In January, the Abstrasension Records label released the album Something Here, a joint project by WoodJu and vocalist Coma (Los Angeles).
El Ched is one of the brightest musicians of the new wave of Russian electronics, a practitioner of seapunk and a member of #internetghetto. He creates deep, layered music, which he releases at the Hyperboloid records label. El Ched’s manner is unusual for the electronic scene; he would frequently refer to the audience and make pauses between tracks. He would run his voice through dozens of various filters to turn it into a powerful stream of pure energy. His music is a blend of electronic dance music with wide-ranging references to different styles, from juke and bass to future to ghetto.
Tickets are available at the box offices of the Worker and Kolkhoz Woman and online at the website of Manege and Voxxter.ru. The ticket price of 300 rubles includes admission to the current exhibitions on the day of the performance.
